Storm Damage

West Jefferson Families -

As you know, major storms over the past two weeks caused significant hail damage to the roof at Norwood Elementary, allowing water to enter multiple areas of the building, including classrooms. As a result, the school was closed on Friday, March 27 to ensure safety.

Additional inspections confirmed that West Jefferson Middle School and West Jefferson High School also experienced hail damage to their roofs. While the level of impact differs at each building, all are being addressed with urgency, including securing affected areas, completing cleanup and sanitation, and implementing temporary roof repairs.

Spring break this week has provided valuable time for our team to fully assess the situation and take the necessary steps to prepare our buildings for reopening.

Our priority is to ensure all buildings are safe and ready for students to return next Tuesday. At this time, we do not anticipate any additional delays; however, we will continue to keep you informed as we determine next steps.

Thank you for your patience and support.

Sincerely,

Jessica Mamais, Ed.D.
