Jefferson Local Schools Appoints Adam C. Walton as New West Jefferson High School Principal 

West Jefferson, OH – Jefferson Local Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam C. Walton as the new Principal of West Jefferson High School. A veteran educator with over a decade of administrative experience, Mr. Walton brings a proven track record of academic leadership, curriculum innovation, and a student-centered approach to the district.

Mr. Walton joins Jefferson Local Schools following five years as Assistant Principal at Hilliard Bradley High School. During his tenure in Hilliard, he was instrumental in leading the school’s Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) process, managing graduation pathways, and fostering business partnerships to provide students with real-world workforce tours.

"At my core, I believe that school leadership is a people business that requires positive relationships with faculty and students to move the organization forward," said Mr. Walton. "Any success I have garnered boils down to a belief that open communication, a consistent presence, and a team approach are what lays the foundation for student success".

Prior to his recent role at Hilliard Bradley High School, Mr. Walton served as the Secondary Instruction Leader for Hilliard City Schools, where he oversaw curriculum development and successfully launched a district-wide "Summer Bridge" program that served over 1,700 students. His diverse leadership background also includes administrative roles at Hilliard Darby High School and Middletown Middle School.

Professional Highlights and Expertise:

  • Academic Excellence: Extensive experience in managing master schedules, reading and math interventions, and AP teacher professional development.

  • Student Support: Led initiatives in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) surveys to enhance school culture.

  • Operational Leadership: Served as building test coordinator for state testing, SAT, and PSAT, and led special education compliance and department meetings.

  • Strategic Partnerships: Facilitated collaborations with organizations such as Miami University and Worthington Industries to expand student opportunities.

Mr. Walton holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and his Ohio Principal Licensure from the University of Dayton. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Wittenberg University and began his career in education as a science teacher at Tecumseh High School.

Mr. Walton is eager to begin his work at West Jefferson High School, where he intends to focus on creating an environment "where teachers can teach, and students can learn."
