Athletic Boosters
The West Jefferson Athletic Boosters were organized in September of 1958. The first meeting was held at the home of Byron Johnson, attended by twelve fathers and then football coach, Gene Keel. The sole interest and goals expressed by those attending was to provide funds and manpower to upgrade equipment and facilities for athletic programs of the Jefferson Local Schools. Wilbur G. Strauss was elected first President.
Since 1958 the Boosters have been a positive and productive contributor to high school and middle school athletics. The Booster by-laws operate within the policies of the school. We are not a pressure group but exist within a positive framework to serve student athletes and the school. Our major projects include the Fall Sports Program, the Roughrider Boosters, Football Concession, 50/50 Raffle, Alumni Football Reunion and the Golf Scramble.
Besides providing funds to the athletic department for the purchasing of uniforms, in the past two years (2011 and 2012) the Boosters have contributed monies for moving and replacement of the High School Softball Fence, Basketball shooting Machine, Football equipment reconditioning, Cheer Floor and Softball Scoreboard. We have also set aside Nine thousand dollars to assist in Facility improvements.

We are always looking for new members, men and women, who want to serve in helping us help kids. Contact the high school at (614) 879-7681 or any booster member for information. Booster meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at the high school at 7:00 p.m.
