Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment

The mission of Jefferson Local School District is to ensure an excellent student-focused education, while supporting the growth of staff and providing the community a quality educational organization.

Using the Ohio Learning Standards as a guide, we aim to provide all students with a rigorous and engaging learning experience that promotes critical thinking. Through this we will shape future leaders, thinkers, and compassionate citizens who are well prepared to contribute meaningfully to the world.

Guidance, resources, and professional development opportunities are available to teachers in order to enhance instruction and student learning. We want to empower teachers with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to create an effective and engaging learning experience for their students. By working collaboratively, we all contribute to the continuous improvement of educational outcomes and dedicate ourselves to continued educational research to ensure Jefferson Local Schools is providing a high-quality education for all of our students.

WJMS/HS Academic 3-Year Plan

The Board of Education recognizes, respects, and values parents and families as children's first teachers and decision-makers in education. The Board believes that student learning is more likely to occur when there is an effective partnership between the school and the student's parents and family. Such a partnership means a mutual belief in and commitment to high expectations and high educational goals for a student, collaboration on the means for accomplishing those goals, cooperation on developing and implementing solutions to challenges, and ongoing communication regarding progress in reaching the goals.
