Hail Damage Updates
Roof Repairs & Building Safety Updates 4/30/2026
During a severe storm earlier this March, Norwood Elementary and the middle/high school experienced water intrusion after a significant amount of rain fell in a short period of time. While this impacted multiple areas of both buildings, our team responded immediately with cleanup and assessment. Since then, the district has continued to closely monitor conditions, implement safety measures, and move forward with both short-term management and long-term repairs.
Current Status
Safety remains our top priority. Buildings are safe, and conditions are being monitored closely each day.
What We Are Doing Now
The district is actively monitoring building conditions throughout the day.
The director of facilities checks each building early every morning for any overnight water impact.
Additional precautions are in place, including increased supervision, clear signage, and immediate response to any leaks.
If conditions were ever to change and a building is not safe, school would be closed and families would be notified by 6 a.m.
Repair Progress
Norwood: Approved for a full roof replacement through insurance, along with necessary classroom repairs. The goal is to complete this work this summer.
Middle/High School Complex: Partial repairs have been approved. The district is continuing to work with the insurance provider to seek approval for additional areas.
