We have a couple important changes we wanted to relay to
you. First, after further talks with the
Madison County Health Commissioner and all options available, Jefferson Local
Schools has decided to move the Middle School and High School to a hybrid model
instead of having students attend 5 days a week.
Half the students will attend Mon and Tuesday (Group A) and
the other half on Thursday and Friday (Group B). The other 3 days when students are not in the
building, they will be participating in e-learning. Group assignments are currently being worked
on and will be coming soon.
On Wednesdays the buildings will be cleaned thoroughly. This change will allow students a better chance of maintaining a 6 ft. distance and less students having to be quarantined if there is a positive COVID case. Students can still participate in the 100% e-learning option if they do not want to do the hybrid model. If you have previously selected the e-learning option and wish to change or have questions, please contact that building’s principal. More information can be found on our reopen section of the website: http://www.west-jefferson.k12.oh.us/reopen.aspx
At this time, Norwood Elementary will continue with students
attending 5 days a week or doing the e-learning option due to the smaller
classroom numbers and the larger size of the rooms.
The second change is for the start of school. The start of school for students will be
moved to Tuesday, Sept 8th. Please
note that our newsletter recently mailed to the community was printed a month
ago due to publishing requirements.
Thus, the opening date in the newsletter is incorrect. The
opening date for all students will be Sept 8, 2020.
