Principal's Message
A note from the Principal

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. This promises to be a year filled with golden opportunites for both students and staff. These middle school years can be challenging for students and emotions can range from excitement to anxiety. We look forward to providing a positive educational experience that not only supports our students academically , but also socially and emotionally.
I want to extend a special yearlong invitation to our families to join us at school activities and events whenever possible. We want .... we need.... and we value your involvement and support in your child's education as it plays a vital role in the success of each student. As always, I encourage parents and students to be involved in the educational process by utilizing "Progress Book" to check grades. A great deal of information can be found there including notes to students regarding opportunities to retake tests, etc. Parents and students are also encouraged to contact the appropriate teacher with questions or concerns as they come up throughout the year.
What's new?
We have a two new additions to our middle school staff this year. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Melanie Filby, our new guidance counselor, and Mrs. Jessie Mace-Froehlich, our new art teacher. Their talents will be great additions to our middle school family.
This will also be the first year that sixth graders begin the school year taking home their chromebooks. Parents of sixth graders should attend the chromebook distribution night, being held on August 16 from 5-7 pm, to fill out the necessary paperwork and pick up their child's chromebook. Insurance will also be available at this time. Students use chromebooks almost everyday in most classes. It's important that all students understand the use of this school issued device is never private and should only be used for school activities.  If a student uses their chromebook in an inappropriate manner, the system will alert the technology coordinator and he will contact the Dean of Students.  Students can be disciplined for using their Chromebook inappropriately.  (Please refer to the technology section on the school website.)

In closing, a good partnership between the school and the home can have a huge impact on your student’s progress. The teaching staff and I are always willing to answer questions or concerns via e-mail or phone. Please do not get discouraged if you call and get a voicemail. Teachers have their phones set to “do not disturb” to avoid interruptions during instruction time. Please leave a message and rest assured your call will be returned.
Looking forward to a great year. Go Riders!
