The USDA has extended waivers that allow Jefferson Local Schools to offer meals at no charge to families.
Effective Thursday, October 8, 2020, all students enrolled in Jefferson Local Schools will be able to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch at no charge on each school day. This includes students that attend 5 days a week, Hybrid students, and E-Learner students.
This opportunity is temporary, as the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) (https://www.usda.gov/media/press-release/2020/08/31/usda-extendsfree-meals-kids-through-december-31-2020) has extended waivers that allow Jefferson Local Schools to offer meals at no charge to families. The waiver is scheduled to go through December 31, 2020 or until federal funds are depleted. It is not known how long these temporary waivers will be available, but we will communicate in advance when free meals for all students will be discontinued.
If you are a Hybrid or E-Learner student and would like meals for pick up on Wednesdays, you must pre-order meals on Wednesday morning before 9:30 am. Pick up is at the High School Cafeteria back door between 10:00 am and 12:30 pm. A link for the order form is sent to your student’s email and must be placed through your student’s email address or you can email me at [email protected] with your order.
