General District/Building Information

  1.  Why is Jefferson Local Schools requiring face masks?

    1. The Madison County Health Commissioner has provided his requirements for county schools to reopen and one of those requirements was for staff and students to wear masks.  There are allowances for face shields with a doctor's note and in some special cases.  Please contact the student’s school building to discuss any special needs in regards to wearing a mask.

  2. Can a student switch from online learning to in person learning?

    1. We would prefer that the student make a semester commitment due to the planning and costs involved.  However, if the need arises, you can contact the school to discuss making the switch.  We will not permit students to keep switching back and forth though.

  3. Does the school building have the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE)?

    1. We are asking students to provide their own face coverings, but we will have extra for individuals that need them.  Please inform your child’s teacher of any specific concerns and/or needs. Melissa Ferguson, District Nurse, also has personal protective equipment (PPE) for any Covid concerns.

  4. Will water fountain use be permitted?

    1. No, Students are strongly encouraged to bring their own water bottles, and only use the water fountains that refill water bottles.

    1. Yes, Jefferson Local Schools will offer a protection plan that is the same as what is offered in grades 6-12.  It will be $25 for the school year and will cover 2 accidental damage claims.  Lost items or malicious damage is not covered.

  3.  How will repairs of the chromebooks work?

    1. That process is still being worked on, but will be different from last spring.  We will have more information on that process once school starts.
