College Credit Plus Intent Meeting

 Meeting,Thurs, 2/14/19,6:30-8 pm,WJHS/MS
Earning College and High School Credit while in middle school and high school at little or no cost to the student and family.

Established in the Fall of 2015, replacing dual enrollment and PSEO, the purpose of the CCP program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students.

Students who will be in grades 7-12 in 2019-20 can apply for CCP admission to a public (tuition at no cost) or participating private college (possible reduced cost at private colleges) after indicating (to West Jefferson Schools) their intent to participate by April 1.

Colleges will admit students based on their college readiness in one or more subject areas.

Earn H.S. and college credit at the same time.

Get a “head start” on college degrees or certificates.

Gain an understanding of college work/life.

Save tuition and textbook costs.

Withdrawal too late from or failure of the course may result in the family reimbursing the school district.

Grades earned will be on the student’s college and high school transcripts and become part of his/her academic record.

Poor performance may result in college academic probation or dismissal.

Repeated withdrawals or failures may negatively impact future financial aid.

Visit www.ohiohighered.org. Parents (and students if possible) should plan to attend the CCP INFORMATION SESSION, Parent-Teacher Conference Night, Thursday, February 14, 2019, 6:30-8 pm in the West Jefferson HS/MS Media Center.

Representatives from The Ohio State University, Columbus State CC, and Clark State CC will be available to speak with students and their parents.

Parents and students attending will be able to file a non-binding “Intent to Participate Form”(mandatory for participation and due to the home school by April 1) that evening.

Parents unable to attend the February 14 meeting may make alternate arrangements with Mr. Palazzo, WJHS counselor.

If you have questions or need more information regarding CCP contact Mr. Palazzo at jpalazzo@westjeff.org or call 614-879-7681 x2306.

An RSVP for February 14 is not necessary but if you are planning to attend please email Mr. Palazzo (with the number attending) so that accommodations can be made for seating and materials for the presentation. Please do not "REPLY ALL".
